WordPress 5.7: Esperanza
WordPress never stands still! WordPress 5.7, named Esparanza after trail-blazing musician Esperanza Spalding is the first release of 2021. A few small improvements, easier accessibility and some tech upgrades are all featured in this release.
A new editor to make it simpler for you to create and present content
Esparanza adds some cool features and tools to allow the user to manage their content. Firstly font-size adjustment is now found in lists and blocks meaning they are easier and faster to change. Reusable blocks have been enhanced and stabilised for increased speed when creating a post, while you can drag and drop blocks or block patterns straight onto your webpages.
Not a web developer? Not a worry!
This release creates more accessibility to WordPress for those of who do not want to delve into the world of coding. This means your content looks more professional and appeals even more to the audience. Esparanza allows you to create full page blocks, adjust social icon buttons and more.
A simple colour palette.
The previous palette has been condensed to 7 colours and 56 shades while still meeting the WCAG 2.0 AA recommended contrast ratio.
HTTP to HTTPS in one click.
‘Click’, done. As simple as that.
JQuery clean-up
JQuery helps move things on your webpage that basic tools cannot. With the new JQuery update 3.5.1 it becomes less intrusive with fewer messages on the console.
